Kolaches Served at South Dakota Capitol Centennial Reception
Senator Frank Kloucek (D) Scotland served 100 Kolaches at the South Dakota Centennial Reception Monday March 1st in the State Capitol. We started serving the kolache to people in line for the meal on the first floor at about 5:30. At 5:45 the 100 kolaches were gone with demand far exceeding supply. The event honored 100 years since the completion of the state capitol. There were many citizens who came forward to sample the delicious “unofficial” state pastry at the event.” said Senator Kloucek.
Pietz Kuchen Kitchen and Specialities of Scotland provided the delicious pastry in apricot, cherry, peach, poppy seed, prune, raspberry, and cream cheese flavors. “The Pietz family epitomizes what dreams, hard work, determination, good marketing and great cooking can do in developing a successful small business in South Dakota!” said Senator Kloucek
“It is only right that we celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the state capitol with a delicious pastry that has been served from some of the best kitchens in South Dakota even before statehood and the construction of our beautiful capitol!” concluded Senator Kloucek
